Custom Ringtones for a developer unlocked windows phone
If your Windows Phone is developer unlocked, you can add custom ringtones to it. To do this, you need to create a XAP-package with audio files and upload and install it on your Phone. I created some ringtones for another phone a few years ago and you may use these if you like them. This is how they sound:
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

In this tutorial I use a nice piece of third party software: ChevronWP7 RingtoneInstaller. Use this sofware at your own risk! It worked on my phone but I am not responsible for any unwanted result on your phone when you use it. Until now, I did not find a way to remove the ringtones from the phone. Installing them will add wma files to your Ringtone folder and they cannot be removed!
Let’s deploy custom ringtones on your phone
- Download and extract Galaktro Ringtacular Pack (it contains wma-files)
- Download and extract ChevronWP7.RingtoneInstaller (more info from the developer: http://walshie.me/index.php?s=chevron)
- Start ChevronWP7.RingtoneInstaller.exe and pick up to 5 wma files from the Ringtacular Pack

- Choose ‘Build ringtone XAP’. The file ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap is now created.
- Connect your phone to the computer and wait for the Zune-software to start
- Start application deployment (from the start menu)

- Browse to ChevronWP7.Ringtones.xap and Deploy. You can find a new application on your phone:

To install the ringtones, just click on ChevronWP7 Ringtones. After installing, you will find the ringtones under Settings | ringtones and sounds.
